Lead Accountant

Lead a high-performing accounting team and own the close for a portfolio of US clients.

The Lead Accountant is our first people-leadership role and a pivotal one. You'll own the close calendar and reporting deliverables for a client portfolio and manage a team of five to ten accountants. You'll also be the client's first point of escalation. Your success is measured by what your team delivers.

• Own the close calendar end to end, including dependencies, cut-offs, sign-offs and the critical path, and step in before deadlines slip
• Own monthly, quarterly and annual reporting deliverables, making sure everything is release-ready with no rework
• Line-manage and develop your team through objectives, one-to-ones, performance reviews, training plans and succession for critical tasks
• Lead client review meetings and communicate close status, risks and insight in terms stakeholders can act on
• Own the team's quality framework, control evidence (SOX 404 and SOC 1 Type II) and the external audit timetable
• Balance workload and coverage, protect the close calendar from ad hoc demands, and lead system and process change

What you'll bring

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or ACCA (one is required)
• 7+ years in general accounting, including 1–2 years supervising or leading a team
• Ownership of a close calendar and reporting deliverables for a client, entity or business unit
• Experience owning an external audit timetable and managing escalations directly with US finance stakeholders
• Experience working within a SOC 1 or SOX control environment
• Experience managing team coverage against US hours, including holidays and daylight saving
• Strong ERP and reporting skills (dashboards, close trackers, capacity tracking) plus advanced Excel

Nice to have

ACCA (qualified or advanced), CPA or CMA. Close management or workflow automation tools. US GAAP exposure is welcome; IFRS is equally valid.
